Born in Portugal, Hugo Marques is truly passionate about gastronomy and culinary arts. His restaurant offers a refined and affordable cuisine, a creative synthesis of traditional family recipes and contemporary cooking.

Hugo marques invites you to discover subtle and surprising culinary combinations from Vence and beyond.

A truly international career

Before settling in Vence, Hugo Marques worked for several landmark restaurants in France, Belgium, and the UK, including coveted internships with Michelin starred chefs.

In spring 2017, Hugo settles in Vence and starts his own business: the CommeChezSoi. The restaurant is situated at the end of the main street, adjunct to the fortifications of the medieval town of old Vence.

The Food

Perpetual evolution in flavour, aroma, and refinement

Hugo Marques offers a gourmet menu that changes 2-3 times per month based on the availability of the highest quality seasonal products. His dishes are meticulously prepared, enhanced with unexpected flavors, and presented inventively to satisfy both eye and palate. Hugo Marques regularly revisits and reinvents the great classics of Mediterranean and Portuguese cuisine as well as contemporary haute cuisine combining “flavor” with “finesse”, and “pleasure”.

The Place

A unique location: Tradition and Innovation

Located up against the old ramparts of medieval Vence, a still-bustling 12th century town in the heart of the french riviera/côte d’azur, the CommeChezSoi combines tradition with innovation as many of the great artists and thinkers that once settled the area have done. The CommeChezSoi acts as a culinary tribute to Dufy, Matisse, Chagall, Dubuffet, Carzou, Arman, Anthony Mars, D.H. Lawrence, W. Gombrowicz…

As the number of tables are limited (30 people maximum), it is advised to phone the restaurant in advance to make a reservation.
